Flyways Linhas Aéreas (Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont) commenced revenue service on Monday, December 28, eight days after it received its business licence from the Brazilian civil aviation authority (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil - ANAC).
The start-up's maiden flight from its Rio de Janeiro International hub was to Belo Horizonte Pampulha and will be followed by service to Uberaba Mário de Almeida Franco on December 30, Ipatinga Usiminas and Araxa on January 4, and Patos de Minas on January 19. Cabo Frio International, Porto Seguro, and Vitória Goiabeiras are also scheduled to launch later next month.
Operations are on-board a pair of ATR72s (one -200 and one -500) though the airline plans to operate ten by the end of 2016 and, come 2019, thirty.
