NewLeaf (Winnipeg International) has announced plans to commence revenue operations from its three bases - Winnipeg International, Hamilton, ON, and Kelowna - on February 12.
Using a fleet of B737-400s chartered from partner Flair Airlines (F8, Kelowna), the virtual budget carrier will offer scheduled flights to Regina, Saskatoon, Halifax, and Abbotsford initially before expanding its coverage across Canada.
NewLeaf Airways is reportedly planning to pursue its own Air Operators Certificate (AOC) at some point in the near future.
The ch-aviation start-up tracker indicates that aside from NewLeaf Airways, other nascent Canadian carriers looking to target the country's underserved budget niche include Zoom Airlines (Ottawa International), Canada Jetlines (AU, Toronto Pearson), and Jet Naked (Calgary).
