AirBridgeCargo (RU, Ulyanovsk Vostochny) has signed an ACMI contract with fellow Volga-Dnepr Airlines (VI, Ulyanovsk Vostochny) subsidiary CargoLogicAir (CLU, London Stansted) for the launch of bi-weekly B747-400(F) flights to Africa.

The Russian carrier said in a statement that effective February 14, CargoLogicAir has begun operating scheduled London Stansted-Frankfurt International-Libreville Leon M'Ba-Johannesburg O.R. Tambo-Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta-London Stansted flights on its behalf but using CLA's own UK AOC and flight numbers.

"The introduction of services to Africa is a big step for our company," Robert van de Weg, AirBridgeCargo Airlines' Senior Vice-President for Sales & Marketing, said. "For the last couple of years AirBridgeCargo has reached the 'high-water mark' of its organic growth model with its focus on its fleet, network expansion and consistently improving the quality of its customer service. We are now continuing our development by expanding into other parts of the world, including by means of partnership with other airlines. New points of destination and origin in Africa will provide our customers with direct service via ABC's stations in Europe, Asia and the U.S. We are delighted to be working with CargoLogicAir as our ACMI partner to create these new opportunities for our clients."

AirBridgeCargo operates cargo flights across Europe, the Middle East, North America, and Asia using a fleet of nine B747-400(F)s, eight B747-8(F)s, and two B737-400(F)s (in service with its regional Atran (V8, Moscow Vnukovo) unit).
