National Airlines (N8, Orlando Sanford) has announced it will commence scheduled passenger operations out of Islip later this summer. Effective July 1, the carrier will connect the New York airport with the Puerto Rican towns of Aguadilla (2x weekly) and San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin (4x weekly) using B757-200 equipment.
“Our airline is tremendously excited about our partnership with Islip and the opportunity to open that market to our destinations in Puerto Rico," National Airlines President and Chief Operating Officer, Edward Davidson, said. "There is a vibrant Puerto Rican community in and around Islip and the entire New York City region, and we believe travelers will find our combination of convenient location and inclusive service very attractive.”
While largely known for its ACMI/charter operations, National Airlines recently branched into the scheduled passenger services sector with flights connecting Orlando Sanford with Las Vegas Harry Reid, St. John's, Vancouver International, Windsor, and San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin Int'l.
