bmi british midland (Nottingham East Midlands) has ordered five A330-200s and five A321-200s. It will launch daily A320-200 service from London Heathrow to Cairo on October 28. It is also planning to enter into codeshare relationship with Egypt Air (MS/Cairo) on this route and for connections beyond Egypt Air's Cairo hub. bmi will however not continue to serve Alexandria which is currently part of subsidiary BMed's (KJ/London Heathrow) network. bmi regional (BD/Aberdeen) has already given up its Aberdeen-Brussels route again on July 27. It has also wet-leased a Do328-110 from Scot Airways (CB/Cambridge). Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt) is reportedly interested in taking over the 20% stake of SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK/Copenhagen Kastrup) in bmi. Lufthansa would then own almost 50% of bmi.
