The LATAM Airlines Group says it is planning to complete the disposal of its fleet of A330-200s by the end of this year.
In line with the move, VAS Aero Services recently announced it would acquire four of the ten A330s still with TAM Linhas Aéreas (São Paulo Congonhas) along with fourteen spare Pratt & Whitney engines. The jets will be ferried to Lourdes/Tarbes for teardown by VAS's European partner, Tarmac Aerosave.
According to the ch-aviation aircraft database, of the ten aircraft, six are in storage at any of Lourdes/Tarbes, São Carlos Francisco Pereira Lopez, São Paulo Guarulhos, and Rio de Janeiro International, two are destined for Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel), while the remaining two - PT-MVD (cn 259) and PT-MVL (cn 700) - are still in active service.
In related news, LATAM Group carriers will shortly begin their gradual transition to a single unified brand with the first aircraft to feature the new livery expected to roll out of the paintshop next month.
