El Al Israel Airlines (LY, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) has ended B737-700 operations for the meantime following the withdrawal of its last remaining airframe of the type from regular service.
According to Skyliner Aviation, 4X-EKE (msn 29961) was ferried from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion to Tucson International via London Luton and New York JFK last week. The twinjet is destined for Capstar Aviation, a Texas-based commercial aircraft and engine trading and leasing business.
El Al continues to operate eight B737-900(ER)s and fifteen B737-800s (of which two are leased out to Sun d'Or International Airlines (Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) and four operate for El Al's UP by El Al (Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) budget brand).
