CityJet (WX, Dublin International) has taken delivery of its maiden SSJ 100/95 following the handing over of EI-FWA (msn 95102) at Venice Marco Polo on Tuesday, May 24.
Altogether, the Irish carrier is expected to take delivery of three more of the type this year with the remaining eleven to arrive from Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (Zhukovsky) during 2017 and onwards. Aside from this current batch of fifteen leased aircraft, the Irish airline has options for an additional sixteen of the type as well.
The twinjet will initially be deployed on charter flights before eventually being used on regular CityJet services. The latter is, however, largely dependent on the aircraft securing London City certification, something it hopes to achieve by year-end.
CityJet is using the SuperJet to replace its older fleet of nineteen ARJ-85s.
