TAROM (RO, Bucharest Henri Coanda) has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) to all interested lessors and airlines for the supply of CFM International-powered, 160-190 seater jet aircraft with a range of at least 4,630 kilometres (2,500 nautical miles).
In the first instance, Tarom is looking to wet-lease a pair of the aircraft for between three and six months. The tender is open to all eligible aircraft registered in the European Union that are under five years of age only.
In the second instance, Tarom is looking to dry-lease a pair of the same type aircraft albeit for between four and six years. This tender is open to all eligible EASA-compliant aircraft that are under five years of age and which do not have to undergo a C Check in the next twelve months.
The deadline for submissions for both tenders is August 31.
Earlier this year, former CEO Christian Heinzmann said Tarom was looking at leasing either B737-800s or A320-200s as a possible replacement for its two A310-300s which are set to be retired in late October or early November.
The Romanian national carrier's narrowbody jet fleet currently includes four B737-300s, four B737-700s, and four A318-100s.
