Thai AirAsia X (XJ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has terminated longhaul flights to the Gulf region owing to poor passenger loads The Bangkok Post has reported quoting company sources.
The Thai budget carrier terminated its Bangkok Don Mueang-Tehran Imam Khomeini, Iran route on December 5 with its Muscat, Oman route to follow on January 19. The services launched on June 22 and 28 respectively but, despite initial high expectations, have failed to garner adequate demand.
With the withdrawal complete, Thai AirAsia X's route network will consist of Osaka Kansai, Seoul Incheon, Shanghai Pudong, and Tokyo Narita. Mention has been made of the carrier starting services to Central Europe later on in 2017.
