Maine Aviation Aircraft Charter (MAAC) is set to secure a commuter air carrier authority after the US Department of Transportation (DOT) issued a determination of fitness on December 28, 2016. As previously reported, the US business charter specialist originally applied in mid-2016 for authority to provide scheduled passenger operations.
If all regulatory hurdles are cleared, MAAC plans to run 7x weekly round trips between White Plains (New York) and Fort Lauderdale International, Florida using its VIP-configured Bombardier CRJ200 business jets. MAAC has also signalled its intention to bid for Essential Air Service (EAS) contracts and expand to other city pairs if there is enough demand.
According to its filing, MAAC manages and operates a fleet of fourteen aircraft, including four Bombardier CRJ-200s, one Dassault Falcon 2000, four Hawker 125s, two Learjet 60s, Cessna 550/551/552s, and one Cessna (twin piston) 310.
