Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) has finally confirmed that it has ordered 10 Dash 8-400s with deliveries starting later this year already. The new aircraft will replace Fokker 100s currently wet-leased from Germania (ST/Berlin Tegel) and will be operated by Air Berlin regional partner LGW - Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (HE/Dortmund). It will transfer three A321-200s from LTU Intl Airways (LT/Dusseldorf Intl) to its own fleet later this week and has also converted two A319-100 orders to A321-200 orders. The German authorities have postponed a decision on the proposed Condor (DE/Frankfurt) takeover by Air Berlin to June. Air Berlin has announced a variety of new seasonal services: Basle/Mulhouse-Djerba: weekly A320-200 service starting on May 5 Munich-Mikonos: weekly A320-200 service starting on May 7 Nuremberg-Mytilene: weekly A320-200 service starting on May 7 Nuremberg-Volos: 2x weekly A320-200 service starting on May 2 It will also launch nightly express mail flights on behalf of the German postal service between Berlin Tegel and Frankfurt.
