Rainbow Airlines (Harare International) commenced scheduled passenger operations on Wednesday, January 25, with a return service between Harare International and Victoria Falls.
Airline chief executive Ed Berry said in a statement to ch-aviation that clearances with the South African authorities for Johannesburg O.R. Tambo flights are currently in the pipeline. A tentative early-February launch date is currently on the cards, he said.
Though fully certified, Rainbow Airlines has wet-leased a single CRJ100 from South Africa's CemAir (5Z, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) for its initial operational demands. A second of the type will be added in future as demand dictates.
