JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) has confirmed it is on track to take delivery of its first of eighteen A350-900s on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) during its 2019 Financial Year (April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020).
Outlining its Medium Term Management Plan for the years 2017-20, the carrier said it would use the type for domestic Japanese trunk routes before presumably deploying them internationally.
According to the ch-aviation capacity module, the carrier's four most prominent domestic routes operate from its Tokyo Haneda hub and include Fukuoka (38,237 seats/week), Sapporo Chitose (37,485 seats/week), Osaka Itami (31,011 seats/week), and Okinawa Naha (30,213 seats/week).
In October 2013, JAL signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for eighteen A350-900s and thirteen A350-1000s, plus options for a further twenty-five aircraft.
