Primera Air Scandinavia (Billund) Primera Air has penned an agreement with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for eight B737-9 aircraft, with purchase rights for an additional four. The agreement will also see Primera lease eight aircraft from Air Lease Corporation.
Last week, Primera Air Nordic (Riga) announced plans to begin scheduled passenger flights to the United States from May 2018 onwards, and has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for exemption authority as well as a Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP).
"The 737 MAX 9 will allow Primera Air to open up nonstop, long-haul routes from Europe to the US with unmatched economics," said Primera President Andri Ingolfsson in a statement.
With its two northern-European companies – Primera Air Scandinavia (Billund) and Primera Air Nordic – Primera Air currently operates an all Boeing-fleet of two B737-700s and seven B737-800s to destinations throughout Europe.
