Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) has filed a lawsuit against Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (Zhukovsky) in the Moscow Arbitration Court, reports Vedomosti. The case relates to state subsidies for a RUB576 million (USD10.1 million) contract for the lease of ten SSJ 100/95s in June, 2011.
Quoting sources close to the claim, Vedomosti says that an agreement was signed between Sukhoi Civil Aviation, Aeroflot and VEB-Leasing, under which Aeroflot was to receive subsidies for the lease of ten SuperJets. Although these were state subsidies, they were to be paid by Sukhoi. However, Aeroflot claims that it never received these payments and is now pursuing them. The hearing is set for June 6.
An analyst at credit rating agency AKRA said that if Aeroflot were to win the case, Sukhoi would logically look to be reimbursed by the government.
Aeroflot's Sukhoi fleet stands at 30 aircraft.
