Thai VietJetAir (VZ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) may be forced to suspend its international flights should it fail to complete recertification with the Thai Civil Aviation Authority (ThCAA) by month-end.
According to the Bangkok Post, the carrier has already put a contingency plan together which entails parent carrier VietJet AirAsia (Hanoi Noi Bai International) assuming its only foreign service - a 4x weekly Bangkok Suvarnabhumi-Haiphong, Vietnam, flight - until such time that its AOC is reissued.
Earlier this month, the ThCAA's Director-General, Chula Sukmanop, confirmed that both Thai VietJetAir and Orient Thai Airlines (Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) had requested additional domestic frequencies to mitigate the impact of the AOC recertification process.
NewGen Airways (Bangkok Don Mueang), Thailand's largest China-focused charter operator, and private jet charter specialist MJets (Thailand) (MIN, Bangkok Don Mueang) are due to gain their new AOCs this month, Chula said at the time.
Thus far, Thai Airways International, Thai Smile, Thai Lion Air, Nok Air, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X, and NokScoot have successfully resecured their AOCs.
