SCAT Airlines (DV, Shymkent) has become the fifth Kazakh carrier to secure its Third Country Operator (TCO) certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The move enables the scheduled passenger carrier to thus begin commercial flights to the European Union (EU). SCAT currently connects thirty-seven destinations across Kazakhstan as well as Russia, Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, Turkey, the UAE, and Armenia.
Since the European Commission (EC) removed Kazakhstan from its Banned Operator's List in December last year, four other carriers have secured their TCOs including: Comlux KZ; Air Astana; Prime Aviation; and Kaz Air Jet. Operators currently undergoing assessment include: Jupiter Jet; Jet Airlines; Fly Jet KZ; and Sunkar Air.
