MC Aviation (Istanbul Atatürk) has applied to the Turkish civil aviation regulator (Sivil Havacılık Genel Müdürlüğü - SHGM) for an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) as it prepares to enter the business charter market niche.
According to European Business Air News, MC Aviation intends to grow its fleet to up to ten aircraft in the medium-term including Bombardier Aerospace, Embraer, Cessna Aircraft Company, and Dassault Aviation equipment.
"The market in Turkey is looking good at the moment," Operations Manager Caglayan Yilmaz said. "In terms of maintenance, we plan to service Turkish aircraft and some from the Middle East. We are also constructing a hangar that will be available for maintenance and aircraft storage space. We are also thinking about having a restaurant there and restrooms for the flight crew."
At present, MC Aviation is a licensed AMO and also manages a Global Express and a Bombardier Aerospace Challenger 604 both of which are operated by partner Türkmenair (Istanbul Atatürk). The Global Express is used solely by the owner and is not available for charter, while the Challenger can be chartered for 75 hours during peak season.
