Air Arabia (G9, Sharjah) chief executive Adel Ali has hinted at the possible inclusion of A321neo (Long Range) aircraft as part of a 2016 deal signed with Air Lease Corporation involving the lease of six A321neo. The aircraft are due to deliver between January and October 2019.
In an interview with Forbes, Adel Ali said the A321neo will be used to open up new routes to China, Russia, the Far East, and Africa, but will not be used for the European market which is already prone to overcapacity. The LCC's Moroccan affiliate, Air Arabia Maroc (3O, Casablanca Mohamed V), may also use the type to boost its eastern European market reach, he added.
“Places such as Moscow and Nepal, where we could do with a bit more capacity, but we don’t necessarily need to put more frequencies,” he said.
At present, Air Arabia operates an all-Airbus fleet of thirty-seven A320-200s with Air Arabia Egypt (E5, Alexandria Borg el Arab) operating one, Air Arabia Jordan (Amman Queen Alia) operating two, and Air Arabia Maroc seven.
