Irish lessor Amedeo has confirmed plans to enter the ACMI/charter airline sector by proferring its growing portfolio of A380-800s to the market.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mark Lapidus told The Financial Times that as part of the plan, Amedeo will apply for an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) next year. Once secured, the firm would then lease out its A380s to the market targetting existing operators as well as "new disruptive entrants such as Airbnb from 2022".
Amedeo currently manages twelve A380-800s of which eight are in service with Emirates (EK, Dubai International) and two with Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International). It also has a further twenty on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac).
