Saudi Arabian conglomerate Al Shiddi Group has unveiled plans to launch an airline in Bosnia & Herzegovina in 2018 under the name, FlyBosnia (Sarajevo).
The firm has already begun recruiting for multilingual cabin crew fluent in English and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian as well as Arabic.
FlyBosnia is registered in Sarajevo as a company owned by Nudžejma Skenderović and Sulaiman Abdullah al-Shiddi. For its part, the Al Shiddi Group is the largest Arab investor in Bosnia & Herzegovina. In Sarajevo, it owns Sarajevo City Center, the local Novotel, and is in the process of building a luxury resort in Poljine Hills.
A similarly named start-up, FlyBosnia (2004) (Sarajevo), had planned to operate regular flights between the United Kingdom and Bosnia back in 2004. The project did not, however, get beyond the drawing board.
