Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon) will launch a new domestic service between Seoul Incheon and Yangyang on February 1, 2018, in order to facilitate better access to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. The service will terminate on February 27.
Tickets will only be available for passengers connecting from or to the airline's international routes via Seoul Incheon.
The service will be operated with a variable frequency, but mostly 3x daily, using a mix of B737-800s and B737-900s. On February 27, the last day of operations, the airline plans to deploy B777-300 and A330-200 on the route, ch-aviation analysis of the schedule shows.
Yangyang airport, located some 60 kilometres north of Pyeongchang, is currently served on a scheduled basis by Korea Express Air (KEA, Seoul Gimpo) from each of Busan and Kitakyushu, as well as by Yakutia Airlines (R3, Yakutsk) from each of Khabarovsk Novy and Vladivostok. In the past, the airport was also served by the now-defunct TransAsia Airways (Taipei Sung Shan).
