Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) has taken several measures to ensure it is able to survive as an independent carrier until a transaction to sell the carrier to Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl) will be approved by the European Union. It has announced a capacity cut of 10% and a review of a possible sale of aircraft. Austrian will give up its routes from Vienna to Ankara Esenboga, Nizhniy Novgorod and Nuremberg at the end of the month and has already terminated Vienna-Baia Mare services earlier in February. In addition, it has also given up plans to add Aleppo to its network this summer and will not resume its seasonal Vienna-Bourgas route anymore. It will operate a weekly seasonal service linking Vienna and Dublin between May 29 and September 11 using an Austrian arrows (VO/Innsbruck) Fokker 100.
