Sun-Air (EZ, Billund) will launch a domestic route out of Friedrichshafen to Düsseldorf, its maiden domestic service in Germany. The flights are set to commence on June 4, 2018.
The service will be operated 11x weekly, with two daily return flights on working days and one return flight on Sunday. All flights will be operated within the framework of Sun-Air's franchise agreement with British Airways, under the British carrier's code, using Do328-300 equipment.
Friedrichshafen is located on the northern shore of Lake Constance (Bodensee), shared by Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, and is a popular tourist destination in southern Germany.
If the flights out of Friedrichshafen to Dusseldorf prove successful, Sun-Air will consider adding a second direct service out of the city to Hamburg Helmut Schmidt, the carrier has said in a statement.
According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Friedrichshafen currently sees domestic services only to Frankfurt International, operated by Lufthansa. The airport is also served by Germania, Turkish Airlines, Twin Jet, and Wizz Air on a scheduled basis.
For its part, Sun-Air currently focuses on intra-Scandinavian services mainly out of Aalborg, Aarhus, and Billund but it also operates to the United Kingdom (Manchester International, London City, and Cambridge), Germany, and France. Its currently serves Dusseldorf 9x weekly from Billund. Most of its services are under the franchise agreement with British Airways, with the sole exception being the Marseilles-Munich Augsburg service operated under Germania flight numbers on behalf of Airbus Helicopters (ECF, Marseilles).
