Exploits Valley Air Services (8K, Gander) will launch a 6x weekly flight connecting Gander with Fogo Island off the eastern coast of Canada on April 23, 2018. It will be the maiden scheduled service to the island, The Southern Gazette has reported.
The flights will be operated with a newly added DHC-6-300 C-GNQY (msn 450), an ex-Air Labrador (Goose Bay) unit.
Fogo Island is currently connected to the main island of Newfoundland, on which Gander is located, only be an unreliable ferry service. EVAS' flights will supplement rather than replace the existing connection, Fogo Island Mayor Wayne Collins has said.
EVAS operates its flights under the Air Canada Express brand. According to the ch-aviation capacity module, the carrier connects Gander with each of Goose Bay, St. John's, and Wabush (via St. John's) on behalf of the Canadian flag carrier. EVAS' fleet currently consists of seven Beech 1900Ds, one Piper (twin piston) PA-44 Seminole, and four Cessna (single piston) 172s.
