Following its change in ownership last year, Dominican Wings (Santo Domingo Las Américas) has rebranded itself as flycana (Santo Domingo Las Américas).
In a statement to mark its official relaunch in Santo Domingo on Tuesday, May 15, flycana said it would operate as a low-cost carrier offering flights throughout the Caribbean and the Americas.
Leading the initiative is Víctor Pacheco, the airline's majority shareholder, William Shaw, the founder and former CEO of VivaColombia and Viva Air Perú. Shaw is also on the board of Nigerian LCC start-up Green Africa Airways. Rounding up the triumvirate is Michael Powell, who currently serves as the Executive Chairman for Argentine ULCC Flybondi. He has now been appointed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dominican Wings.
Further details concerning the carrier's main operating base, as well as its initial launch details, will be disclosed in the coming weeks and months.
