The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has amended entries for two previously embargoed operators on its Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list.
In a statement, OFAC said it had added Ukraine's Air Alanna (Kyiv Igor Sikorsky), a descendant of the now-defunct and previously sanctioned Dart Airlines (Kyiv Igor Sikorsky), to the list for its ties to sanctioned Iranian carrier Caspian Airlines (CPN, Tehran Mehrabad).
It also added Iraq's Al Naser Wings Airlines (Baghdad) to the list for its purported ties to Al-Naser Airlines (Baghdad). The latter assisted Mahan Air (W5, Tehran Mehrabad) in the importation of seven A340s back in 2015.
Al Naser Wings chief executive Akram Majeed has since told ch-aviation that his airline was established in November 2017 and bears no relation to Al Naser Airlines nor has it ever had any dealings with Mahan Air.
