FedEx Express (FX, Memphis International) has announced it has ordered twelve incremental B777-Fs alongside twelve incremental B767-300Fs aircraft from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) as the next phase of the company’s ongoing fleet modernization program.
The logistics specialist said in an FY2017 filing that the B777Fs will be delivered between fiscal 2021 and 2025 while the B767Fs are due between fiscal 2020 and 2022.
"These aircraft will be used to continue to improve the efficiency and reliability of the FedEx Express aircraft fleet and allow the company to take advantage of the capital expensing benefits of the TCJA (Tax Cuts and Jobs Act)," it said.
As of February 28, 2018, FedEx said it was expecting a total of sixty-one B767 freighters to deliver through to 2022 and beyond while for the same period, it was expecting thirteen B777-Fs.
At present, it operates fifty-six B767-300(F)s, two -300(ERF)s, and thirty-four B777-Fs.
