CSA Czech Airlines (Prague Václav Havel) has announced a restructuring plan that will include 860 job cuts, three B737s and its two remaining A310-300s being removed from the fleet until spring 2010 and adjustments to the route network. As part of the plan, it will abandon all scheduled long-haul services next week and terminate its Prague-Toronto Pearson route on October 2 and its flights linking Prague and New York JFK on October 23. It will continue to operate charter services with its A310-300s for the winter season 2009/2010. CSA will however also give up its Prague-Manchester route on October 24. It will also combine its non-stop services from Prague to Almaty and Tashkent to twice weekly A319-100 triangle flights to both destinations as of October 26. Air France (AF/Paris CDG) has pulled out of the bidding process for the sale of CSA Czech Airlines earlier this summer leaving a consortium of Icelandair (FI/Reykjavik Keflavik) and Travel Service Airlines (QS/Prague) as the only bidder that has offered 39 million USD. CSA will wet-lease one of its A320-200s to Aircalin (SB/Noumea Tontouta) for four weeks in November.
