EasyFly (Colombia) (Bogotá) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) for five aircraft, including three ATR72-600s and two ATR42-600s.
The Colombian regional specialist is an existing ATR operator employing seven ATR42-500s and three ATR42-600s. It also operates eleven Jetstream 41s and two E110s wet-leased from SARPA - Servicios Aéreos Panamericanos. In terms of network, it serves twenty towns and cities across Colombia from bases in Barranquilla, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, and Medellín Enrique Olaya Herrera.
Commenting on the acquisition, EasyFly President, Alfonso Avila, said the new ATR72-600s will mainly serve growing point-to-point operations from its northern Bucaramanga hub while the ATR42-600s will be used to boost existing regional point-to-point connectivity. He said in April this year that the carrier plans to add twenty-two new aircraft to its fleet over the next five years and that it is also considering a new hub in Cali.
“EasyFly has experienced double-digit traffic and revenue growth every year since the incorporation of ATR aircraft into our fleet and we intend to continue our development by acquiring both the ATR42-600 and 72-600," the president said.
Other commercial ATR operators in Colombia include Avianca and Satena.
