Piedmont Airlines (PT, Salisbury, MD) has announced it will open a new MRO base at Albany, NY International Airport to service its growing fleet of E145 aircraft. The American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) production carrier said in a statement that the new facility will provide maintenance support for its northern routes, including international routes out of Philadelphia International.
“We selected Albany based on a number of factors, including its attractive facilities and proximity to many of the cities we serve out of Philadelphia,” Bill Arndt, vice president, Maintenance and Engineering, said. “We look forward to growing our Piedmont family and the American Eagle brand in Albany and the great state of New York.”
Piedmont has been flying into Albany for over seven years and currently employs 75 ground handling team members at the airport.
In addition to the new operation in Albany, Piedmont also operates maintenance facilities in Philadelphia, Charlotte International, Roanoke Woodrum Regional, Richmond International, VA, Harrisburg International, and Salisbury, MD.
