Nevada-based Logistic Air (Reno/Tahoe) has won a USD22,660,808 default judgement against Baltia Air Lines, Inc. (trading as USGlobal Airways) after the start-up failed to contest the case.
Baltia said in a statement the case, which was heard in a Nevada district court, pertained to the alleged breach of a lease of four Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7A engines esn 662288, 663073, 685609, and 686089 for installation on B747-200B N705BL (msn 21035). The lease started on February 1, 2010, and continued for two years.
The sum awarded includes an original claim of around USD8.9 million as well as charges, fees and interest.
