TAROM (RO, Bucharest Henri Coanda) is considering adding its first executive jet in the form a 10-seater jet for use in running VIP and medevac services, CEO Werner Wilhelm Wolff has told news.ro.
"The aircraft could have originally had 8-10 seats, but it can be reconfigured. We are now looking at the market and we will most likely take it through operational leasing. We're aiming it at the luxury niche. The aircraft could be chartered by businesses, but also by the government. It could also be used in medical emergencies because such an aircraft could transport patients on stretchers or organs for donations," Wolff said.
Short of specifying any types of manufacturers, Wolff said that he would be looking at an aircraft capable of reaching New York directly from Bucharest Henri Coanda.
Currently, the Romanian flag carrier operates four A318-100s, seven ATR 42-500s, two ATR 72-500s, four B737-300s, four B737-700s, and four B737-800s.
According to the ch-aviation airlines module, there are currently two active business charter specialists in Romania: Tiriac Air (TIH, Bucharest Henri Coanda) and Toyo Aviation (TOY, Bucharest Baneasa). Three other companies, namely Aeroclubul Romaniei, Aviatia Utilitara Timisoara, and Aviatia Utilitara Bucuresti organise small-scale passenger charter operations using general aviation aircraft.
