Australia's Rex Group has announced it has divested itself of its Air Link (LZ, Dubbo) subsidiary. The Australian regional specialist said in a stock market disclosure that the sale came after Air Link terminated passenger services in January of this year. According to Australian government records, its AOC (CASA.TAAOC.0344) is valid through to the end of October.
Air Link was established in 1971 as an aircraft charter operation based in Dubbo, New South Wales. In 1991, it commenced regular passenger transport air services linking regional New South Wales to Dubbo and Sydney Kingsford Smith. It was then acquired by Rex in November 2005 following which it started operating charter and Regular Public Transport (RPT) flights between regional New South Wales airports, until its suspended air services in 2018. It operated a variety of aircraft including Beech 1900Ds, as well as smaller Piper (twin piston) PA31-350 and Cessna (twin piston) 310R light aircraft.
As it stands, the Rex Group now comprises Rex - Regional Express (ZL, Wagga Wagga), air freight and charter operator Pel-Air Aviation (PFY, Sydney Kingsford Smith), as well as the Australian Airline Pilot Academy.
