Air Auckland (Ardmore, NZ) is set to launch its maiden scheduled routes from Ardmore, NZ near Auckland to Whitianga and Great Barrier Island on December 3, 2019, The Informer has reported.
Flights will operate daily onboard Cessna (single piston) 172 and Piper (twin piston) PA-23 Aztec aircraft.
Previously branded as Flight Hauraki (Ardmore, NZ), Air Auckland used to focus on charter and sightseeing flights out of Waiheke Island.
"Flying scheduled services will be in addition to our charter business, which remains very strong," CEO Mike Foster said, identifying Slipper Island and Paunaui as potential destinations from Ardmore.
The carrier has announced it will also cooperate with fellow regional specialist Sunair Aviation (Tauranga), which operates services between Great Barrier Island, Whitianga, and Tauranga.
"We’ll effectively be codesharing with Sunair as our Whitianga and Great Barrier Island departure times will align with Sunair’s arrival times," Foster said.
