IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) has opened talks with airports in the Caucasus over the possibility of using them for technical stops on flights to Western Europe.

Sources familiar with developments told India's Business Standard that the LCC is looking to use its incoming fleet of A321neo to operate flights to London Gatwick starting in March next year.

“The airline is also in discussion with Istanbul Airport airport but it has high landing charges. So, Baku Heydar Aliev International or Tbilisi is likely to be the airport through which the airline will operate to Europe,” said a source.

IndiGo currently has 150 A321neo on order from Airbus all of which will be configured with 222 seats in a single-class configuration.

"Later this year in November we will be getting deliveries of A321s that have additional range and that is going to open up some other markets for international flying," Senior Advisor Greg Taylor said during a recent earnings call. "So our plan is to take advantage of international opportunities within the capabilities of our existing fleet in the near-term."
