Aurigny Air Services (GR, Guernsey) and ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) have announced that the carrier firmed an order for three ATR72-600s turboprops with ClearVision Enhanced Vision System, for which the Guernsey-based airline will become the global launch customer.
The order was previously announced as a Letter of Intent during the 2018 Farnborough Airshow, subject to the approval of the local legislature on Guernsey. The carrier was greenlighted to firm the aircraft in December 2018.
The carrier hopes that through the implementation of the new generation turboprops with ClearVision, it will reduce the number of irregularities caused by Guernsey's notoriously foggy and rainy weather.
The three ATR72s will cost around GBP46 million pounds (USD59 million).
The deliveries of the three -600s are scheduled for the third and fourth quarter of 2019. The aircraft will replace three -500s currently operated by Aurigny Air Services. The airline also operates a single ATR42-500, four Do228s, and one E195.
