Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) is planning to deploy its incoming A220-300s predominantly as a replacement on existing routes but there will be "some new flying" as well, Senior VP (Regional Markets and Government Relations) Ferio Pugliese said at the Routes America conference.
The Canadian carrier is due to receive the first of its forty-five ordered Airbus regional jets in late 2019, although commercial service will likely only begin in early 2020. Initially, the A220s will replace E190s, of which Air Canada operates nineteen.
So far, Air Canada did not reveal any routes for the new type, although an investor presentation in 2018 showed that the airline is at least considering deploying the A220s to some of the major US cities and to Mexico.
According to the ch-aviation schedules module, Air Canada's Embraer regional jets are currently based out of Toronto Pearson, Ottawa International, and Montréal Trudeau and operate on domestic, US, and Caribbean (Moss Town and Grand Cayman Island) routes.
