The municipality of the South Moravian Region in Czechia is set to retender for its Brno-Munich Public Services Obligation (PSO) route following the collapse of previous operator, flybmi (Aberdeen Dyce).
Governor Bohumil Šimek said in a statement that the tender would likely go out on February 25. In this year's budget, the municipality had budgeted CZK22 million koruna (USD972,055) to subsidize the route. Thus far, CZK2 million (USD88,370) has already been disbursed to flybmi in 2019 which, Šimek said, the authority would seek to recover from the airline during its bankruptcy proceedings.
Last week, Loganair (LM, Glasgow International) was formally awarded the defunct carrier's London Stansted-Londonderry City of Derry (Northern Ireland) PSO route. As part of the contract, Loganair will operate the route 2x daily service from Wednesday, February 27 using an E145.
The Scottish carrier has since confirmed it has now assumed a total of five flybmi routes. As such, service out of Aberdeen Dyce to each of Bristol International, Oslo Gardermoen, and Esbjerg will commence from March 4 while service from Newcastle, GB to each of Stavanger and Brussels National will start on March 25.
