Supreme Airlines (Jaipur) has secured permission from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to launch services from Vijayawada and will do so as soon as the restrictions imposed during the ongoing elections are lifted, The Hans India has reported.
"Supreme Airlines will operate nine-seat flights to Puttaparthi and Nagarjuna Sagar as soon as the election code of conduct is lifted. The airlines got all the necessary permissions to operate mini-flights. We are waiting for the lifting of election code of conduct," Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation CEO Virender Singh said.
The carrier will deploy Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Grand Caravan aircraft on both routes.
Supreme Airlines launched in July 2018 and currently flies from Sri Ganganagar to each of Jaipur and Jodhpur.
Vijayawada in eastern India currently sees 166 weekly domestic departures operated by Air India, IndiGo Airlines, SpiceJet, Air India Express, Alliance Air (India), and TruJet. IndiGo also operates two weekly flights to Singapore Changi. The regional government is currently seeking a carrier willing to connect the city with Dubai.
