Darwin Airline (Lugano) has acquired Baboo (F7/Geneva) on November 25 and has fully integrated operations on March 27. Baboo already had been in financial difficulties and had announced plans to return its EMB-190 fleet and to lay off 90 workers prior to the acquisition announcement in November. It had already given up its routes from Geneva to Athens, Larnaca and London City in early November. It has then given up its routes from Geneva to Biarritz, Bordeaux, Bucharest Otopeni, Figari and Toulouse by the end of March. Darwin has taken over two Dash 8-400s from Baboo as well as routes from Geneva to Florence, Ibiza, Nice, Rome Fiumicino, St. Tropez, Valencia and Venice Marco Polo and from Nice to Athens and Venice Marco Polo. It will also operate a seasonal Saab 2000 service between Lugano and Crotone this summer between July 31 and August 28.
