Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) has ended A340s operations following the retirement from scheduled service of its last two remaining A340-600s on Wednesday, May 1.
ch-aviation research shows the type's last revenue service for the Qatari carrier was carried out by A7-AGD (msn 798) as flight QR835 Bangkok Suvarnabhumi-Doha Hamad International.
Qatar Airways operated a total of four A340-600s. Of the other three, A7-AGB (msn 715) was ferried to Enschede for scrapping on May 1 while A7-AGC (msn 766) is now parked in Doha having operated its last commercial flight on April 27. A7-AGA (msn 740) has been retained by the airline for crew training purposes.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, eight other operators around the globe still use the A340-600, namely Iberia (seventeen), Lufthansa (seventeen), South African Airways (nine), Mahan Air (six), Virgin Atlantic (six), Maleth-Aero (two), AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (one), and Sky Prime Aviation Services (one).
