Qantas Freight (Sydney Kingsford Smith) is planning to start replacing its five B737 Classic freighters over the next two to three years, airline representatives told Cargo Facts.

The Australian airline did not reveal the exact phase-out plans for the four B737-300(F)s and one B737-400(F)s currently operated by its fully-owned subsidiary Express Freighters Australia (QE, Sydney Kingsford Smith).

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, the -300(F)s are between 32 and 33 years old, while the -400(F) is slightly younger at 29 years. They were all converted from passenger aircraft and are owned by Qantas. Currently, one -300(F)s is grounded for maintenance at Singapore Seletar.

Express Freighters Australia also operates a single B767-300F for Qantas Freight. There are no plans to replace this unit for the time being.

Qantas Freight also wet-leases two B747-400(F)s from Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) (due to be replaced by two B747-8(F)s), four BAe 146-300(QT)s from JetEx (Australia) (Adelaide International), and a B757-200(F) from Pacific Air Express (Australia) (PE, Brisbane International).
