Adding to the woes facing Fastjet Airline Ltd (Tanzania) t/a Fastjet (Dar es Salaam), Harare-based ground handler National Handling Services (NHS) has sought the High Court of Zimbabwe’s permission to serve summons against it in Tanzania.

NHS has issued a USD149,000 claim against the troubled carrier, accusing it of reneging on the obligations of a contract signed between the two parties in August 2014, New Zimbabwe reported.

Invoices for the ground handling services were to have been paid in US currency on or before the seventh day of each month, according to the agreement, with non-payment accruing interest of USD100 per day until the amount was paid in full.

“In breach of the terms of the agreement, the defendant failed to honour the discrete invoices rendered by plaintiff, and an amount of USD149,000 inclusive of interest up to March 31, 2019, is due and payable," the summons, issued through the ground handler's lawyers in Harare, Chihambakwe, Mutizwa & Partners, said.
