Bestfly (Luanda 4 De Fevereiro) has taken delivery of its first of two ATR72-600s following a signing ceremony with ACIA Aero on Friday, August 2.
Originally destined for Fastjet (Dar es Salaam) as 5H-JFK but not taken up, D2-BFC (msn 1060) was ferried to Southern Africa on August 4 and will be followed by sistership msn 1072 later this month.
Bestfly will then complete type certification with the Angolan civil aviation authority (Instituto Nacional da Aviação Civil - INAVIC) in time to deploy the ATR - Avions de Transport Régional turboprops into service on charters between Luanda 4 De Fevereiro and the oil-rich Angolan exclave of Cabinda in early September.
Nuno Pereira, CEO and founder of Bestfly, the Angola-based aviation services company, said in a statement that the ATRs' ability to operate on unpaved and short runways will make it ideal for Angolan and West African operations.
Bestfly also operates a variety of Beechcraft, Gulfstream Aerospace, Bombardier Aerospace, and Cessna Aircraft Company jets and turboprops on medevac as well as general passenger charter flights.
