Flair Airlines (F8, Kelowna) is planning to retire all B737-400s by the summer 2020 season and operate a single-type fleet based on the B737-800s, the Canadian LCC said in a press release.
"Over the last few months, as part of its fleet renewal program, Flair has added three newer Boeing 737-800NG aircraft and is gradually phasing out its older B737-400s. All three additions sport Flair's distinctive new livery and logo. By next summer Flair plans to be operating a single-type fleet of B737-800NGs, which are more fuel-efficient and also have longer range capabilities," the carrier said.
Flair Airlines added that the fleet renewal will allow it to launch new routes to "southern destinations".
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, the carrier currently operates three B737-800s. All three units are second-hand equipment, ranging from 8.6 to 9.3 years of age. Two ex-Siam Air units are dry-leased from AerSale (United States of America), while the third, an ex-Primera Air Scandinavia aircraft, is dry-leased from CMB Financial Leasing.
Flair continues to operate seven B737-400s, of which only four are active. The -400s are 26.6 years old on average.
