CSA Czech Airlines (Prague Václav Havel) will launch a daily Prague-Copenhagen Kastrup-Reykjavik Keflavik service on October 28 using B737-800 aircraft from its parent Smartwings (Czechia) (QS, Prague Václav Havel), Routes Online has reported.
The new daily flights will replace a seasonal 3x weekly summer-only service linking the Czech and Icelandic capitals. The new routing will allow CSA to offer flights to Iceland on a year-round basis.
CSA is filling a capacity void left by WOW air (Reykjavik Keflavik) following the low-cost carrier's bankruptcy. Copenhagen is the second largest market from Iceland after London with 30 weekly flights offered by SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) and Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) combined at present, according to ch-aviation capacities.
CSA already operates another route outside its Czech home market offering six weekly Hamburg Helmut Schmidt-Gothenburg Landvetter flights currently operated on its behalf by Star East Airlines (4R, Bucharest Baneasa).
