Royal Brunei Airlines (BI, Bandar Seri Begawan) has replaced an A330-200 wet-leased from Spain's Wamos Air (EB, Madrid Barajas) with an A330-900 from Portugal's Hi Fly (5K, Beja), ch-aviation research has revealed.

EC-NBN (msn 818) was ferried back from Bandar Seri Begawan directly to Madrid Barajas on October 1, 2019, having operated the last revenue service for Royal Brunei Airlines from Dubai International the day before. The aircraft had been wet-leased to the Bruneian flag carrier since August 6.

In turn, CS-TKY (msn 1929), was ferried from Lisbon to Bandar Seri Begawan on September 29-30, 2019, and started operating the 4x weekly service to Dubai on October 1. This is the first long-haul wet-lease contract for the brand new Airbus twinjet, which was delivered to Hi Fly on September 3. Since then, CS-TKY operated long-haul flights to Holguin and Curaçao under Hi Fly's own code, as well as a number of short-haul individual flights on behalf of AlbaStar (AP, Palma de Mallorca) and Transavia France (TO, Paris Orly), Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.

The wet-lease is scheduled to last through November 30, 2019.

Royal Brunei Airlines' in-house widebody fleet includes five B787-8s, of which one has been in storage since August 19 due to issues with Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines. The Bruneian flag carrier also operates two A320-200s and seven A320-200neo, according to the ch-aviation fleets module.
