Mahan Air (W5, Tehran Mehrabad) has reactivated its only B747-400 almost ten years after it had been retired and put in storage at Tehran Imam Khomeini airport.

EP-MNB (msn 24363), a 30-year-old quadjet previously operated by Blue Airways (Yerevan), was reactivated on August 27, 2019, when it performed a test flight around Tehran Imam Khomeini airport. It had been stored there since 2010.

The Iranian airline then used the aircraft to operate the first domestic scheduled flight, from Tehran Mehrabad to Mashad, on September 4, 2019. It was subsequently deployed to Baghdad on September 15, 2019, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. Since its reactivation, the Boeing jet has been used predominantly domestically to Mashad and Kish.

In terms of its B747 fleet, Mahan Air also operates one active B747-300(M) and has a further one unit of the type in storage. According to the ch-aviation fleets, the carrier's fleet also includes eight A300-600s, one A300-600R, nine A310-300s, five A340-300s, six A340-600s, four ARJ-100s, four ARJ-85s, one BAe 146-200, and six BAe 146-300s.
